The story of Annie McKinney Musick begins in the rural western portion of the Carolinas in the late 1700’s. Her marriage to David Musick would take her to the wilderness of the untamed Appalachians and to a place known as Big A Mountain. A life expected to be one of married bliss turns to tragedy. Her struggle for survival is told with everyday simplicity and love for this heroic woman.

A true pioneer of Russell County, VA and a forerunner to the women who would bring civilization to Kentucky, she takes her place beside the legendary patriarch, Ephriam Hatfield……..
